HackYeah 2026: a WSIiZ student won the Smart City category
Dmytrii Zherebtsov entered solo in Kraków and won the Smart City category. Team SideQuest from WSIiZ reached the TOP 5 in the HubMI.pl category.

We go to hackathons regularly, and the latest one ended with a result we are proud of. HackYeah took place in Kraków on 3 and 4 October 2026: 24 hours of work, more than 3,000 participants and over 130 projects in the Smart City category alone.
First place in Smart City
WSIiZ student Dmytrii Zherebtsov entered solo and won the whole category. His project supports search and rescue operations carried out with drones. The software plans flight routes, and the devices collect information about located people and pass it to the command centre, which decides whether to send a rescue team.
The prize was PLN 8,000. Dmytrii says he will spend it on extra music equipment for his performance at the "WSIiZ Ma Talent" contest. He would also like to see his solution put into use.

SideQuest in the TOP 5
Team SideQuest from WSIiZ competed in the HubMI.pl category. Their project "Rozmach", a digital system supporting a social innovation hub in Lesser Poland, made it into the category's TOP 5.
An alumnus in the Defence category
WSIiZ alumnus and lecturer Yaroslav Oleshkevych took part in the international five-person team Attention-Link. They showed a prototype called "Finance Without Intermediaries" on Solana Devnet, which helps small businesses and freelancers hedge currency risk.
