HackNation 2025 is Poland's first 24-hour implementation hackathon, run by and for public administration. The tasks were prepared by ministries, public institutions and state-owned companies. On 6 and 7 December 2025 around 1,500 people worked in Bydgoszcz, about 50 of them from WSIiZ.

Two finals

Students and alumni of our university reached the finals in two Ministry of Digital Affairs tasks:

  • "Zgrany budżet" ("In-sync budget"): a web app that streamlines how the ministry builds its budget. The product scored 4.85/5, and more than 20 projects were submitted in the category.
  • "Odnalezione zguby" ("Found lost items"): a portal where officials publish information about found items in a uniform, machine-readable format.

Practice beats slides

Vice-Rector for Education Dr Barbara Przywara put it this way: "There is nothing more practical in education than an event like this." That is how we see hackathons too: a real problem, a team, a deadline and a product at the end.

Next on the list was HackCarpathia 2026 in Rzeszów. Want to come along? Join the club.
